Top 7 Artists American Idol Discovered
American Idol has just announced on May 11th, that it will have it's final season next year with season 15. The iconic show has seen better days with the past few seasons struggling to maintain views. At the shows peak it reached 30 million viewers for its episodes, and now it struggles to reach 10 million viewers an episode. The show has obviously seen better days in views, but it was a trailblazer in discovering unprecedented vocal talent. American Idol has been struggling in pulling viewers from other shows like, The Voice. This cancellation can be sad and an end to a cultural icon, but it did produce some amazing artists that continue to rule the charts.

The auditions were all an experience whether they be bad, awkward, weird, or amazing. Let's take a trip down memory lane by watching all of these amazing artists audition to be on idol. An obvious one here is the ever wonderful Kelly Clarkson. Kelly was discovered on the very first season of American Idol which aired back in 2002. The show was starting out and had no idea how big of a cultural icon it would become, and be around for 15 seasons! Kelly Clarkson did win the first season and had huge success! She has produce countless hits from "Since U Been Gone", "Miss Independent", "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)", "Catch My Breath", and "Heartbeat Song". She has continuously been relevant ever since 2002 and continues to dominant the charts with her newest album Piece By Piece which was released February 27th, 2015. She is now one of country musics most prominent artists. She has paved her path as on of the most notable names in country music and continues to do so. With hits such as "Jesus, Take the Wheel", "Before He Cheats", "All American Girl", and "Cowboy Casanova", Carrie has proved her power. She still nails the country scene with recent hits such as "Something in the Water" with Miranda Lambert. She has received 7 Grammy Awards, 11 Academy of Country Music Awards, and countless others. He has had international success with hits such as "For Your Entertainment", "Whataya Want From Me", and "If I Had You". The Times also identified Adam as the first openly gay mainstream pop artist to launch a career on a major label in the U.S. Adam Lambert has a new album releasing this summer on June 16th called The Original High. Jennifer Hudson has also sky-rocketed her career from being on idol as well. Jennifer didn't win the third season of idol either, in fact she wasn't even a runner up. Jennifer Hudson came in seventh place, yeah SEVENTH place. I was baffled to find that out as well. She has had one the best careers from everyone that has been on American Idol, let alone the ones on the third season. She has won an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and a Grammy Award! She has continued her success in being in "Dreamgirls" and having three albums, with her most recent one JHUD. These songs were all extreme successes at the time. These songs were all from her two albums Jordin Sparks and Battlefield. Jordin is currently working on a new album set to release this year. Jordin has a new song out from the album titled "Double Tap" thats is such a club hit! I just found out about this song and it makes me super excited to hear more from her! Chris Daughtry
Chris Daughtry has also had success after Idol ended. Chris finished fourth place on the fifth season of American Idol and has had credible success for not even winning. Chris formed a band called Daughtry and is now the third most successful American Idol contestant behind Kelly and Carrie in terms of album sales. Scotty managed to take away the title of the 10th season American Idol winner. Scotty launched his career as an american country music singer due to the show. Scotty's first album Clear as Day was certified platinum in the United States which help create an even bigger name for himself. Scotty has continued to produce music and his latest album See You Tonight had its single "See You Tonight" be Scotty's first song to reach the top ten on Billboards Hot Country Songs Chart. Scotty was also 16 in his audition, which is crazy because he looks so much older in the audition. Also, this was the season Steven Tyler was a judge, which makes me chuckle.
